PI Dr. Noemi Pinilla-Alonso, along with Co-Is Dr. Charles Schambeau, Dr. Mário De Prá, and astronomy doctoral student Ana Carolina de Souza Feliciano, were awarded funding for their research project by the University of Central Florida’s Office of Research and the Provost Office SEED funding program. All of the research teams awarded received up to $580,000.
Their project aims to validate the application of machine learning techniques to the study of the surface composition of small icy bodies in the Solar System, the trans-Neptunian objects (TNOs), recording observations using the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). They, along with the other recipients, will present updates on their work during UCF’s Research Week (March 29-April 2).
