SPACEU SYMPOSIUM:

PROF. KATARIINA NYKYRI
ABSTRACT:
Current space weather monitors at Earth-Sun L1 point provide only 30-60 min warning time for Earth-impacting space weather hazards. Nykyri, GRL, 2024b showed that the largest geomagnetic storm in 20-years was produced by plasma instability at CME boundary – 7 million km upstream of Earth-Sun L1 point, motivating the need for sub-L1 constellations.
