PATRICIA’S BIOGRAPHY

Patricia Szczerba is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in operational management, particularly in the field of space research and education. She currently holds the position of Director of Operations at the Florida Space Institute (FSI), where she has been instrumental since 2012. Her role involves a close partnership with the FSI Director, focusing on the institute’s growth and ensuring the smooth running of daily operations. Ms. Szczerba is dedicated to supporting the institute’s research and administrative staff, as well as students, by providing necessary tools and assistance to foster their success.

Before her tenure at FSI, Patricia served as the Director of Operations for UCF Global from 2012 to 2022, showcasing her ability to handle diverse and challenging roles over the years. During her time at FSI, she also managed HR needs and acted as a liaison between the OR Business Center and the HR team, especially during the integration of new systems like Workday.

During the period of 2018-2023, Patricia played a crucial role in the transition and management of Arecibo Observatory staff when the facility came under FSI’s management. Her responsibilities included procurement, managing travel needs, and ensuring the Arecibo staff had the resources and support to thrive during the transition. This period was marked by significant challenges, but Ms. Szczerba efforts helped maintain a productive and positive environment, reflecting her ability to navigate complex situations effectively.

Earlier in her career, from 2005 to 2011, Patricia was the administrative point of contact for the Florida Space Grant Consortium (FSGC).
