OLGA’S BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Olga A. Figueroa-Miranda is a distinguished leader in the field of academic administration, recognized for her visionary approach to education and her unwavering commitment to excellence in research and community service. With a rich career that spans over a decade, Dr. Figueroa-Miranda has demonstrated a profound ability to drive strategic initiatives, foster educational innovation, and cultivate environments where learning and research thrive.
Currently serving as the Associate Director for Business; Education Development at the Florida Space Institute, University of Central Florida, Dr. Figueroa-Miranda has been instrumental in leading projects that align with educational excellence and research advancement. Her efforts have significantly enhanced interdisciplinary collaboration, leading to a notable increase in external funding and program development.
Dr. Figueroa-Miranda’s leadership was equally impactful during her term as the Director at the Arecibo Observatory, University of Central Florida, where she introduced strategic initiatives that strengthened the Arecibo Observatory. Her ability to cultivate a high-performing organizational culture has been a symbol of her career, consistently resulting in improved engagement and productivity.
Her role as the Director of Facilities and Operations at the Arecibo Observatory and as the Vice Chancellor for Administrative Affairs at Universidad Ana G. Mendez further exemplifies her expertise in financial oversight, strategic planning, and community engagement. Her efforts in these positions have led to significant improvements in operational efficiency, educational outreach, and research initiatives.
Dr. Figueroa-Miranda holds a Ph.D. in Education from Universidad de Almeria, Spain, complemented by a Master’s in Project Management and a Bachelor’s in Management from Universidad del Este, Puerto Rico. Her academic background lays a solid foundation for her leadership roles, where she continues to emphasize the importance of educational quality and research excellence.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Dr. Figueroa-Miranda is actively involved in the community, serving as a board member of the Emergent Technologies, Artificial Intelligence and Gamification, Centro Internazionale di Ricerca Francesco Saverio Nitti per il Mediterraneo and volunteering in literacy programs in Spain. Her commitment to education extends beyond the confines of academia, reflecting her dedication to fostering an educated and engaged society.
Fluent in English and Spanish, Dr. Figueroa-Miranda’s communication skills are as versatile as her leadership abilities, enabling her to connect with a diverse array of individuals and organizations, further amplifying her impact on the educational landscape.
