Airborne Lightning Observatory for FEGS and TGFs (ALOFT)

The FSI team supported the ALOFT program with data from the Central Florida Lightning Mapping Array (CFLMA) and with a location to host other instrumentation in collaboration with the New Mexico Tech (NMT) lightning team. The CFLMA data and the NMT instruments were integral to the ALOFT program providing lightning mapping for FEGS and TGFs that were detected over the east central Florida area on the last flying day of the NASA ER-2. More information can be found at the NASA Earthdata link below as well as in the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society publication on the ALOFT program.
