THE EXOLITH LAB®

Located in Orlando, Florida, the Exolith® Lab is a space hardware testing and regolith research facility managed by the Florida Space Institute. As part of its operations, the lab characterizes and develops new recipes of Lunar, Martian, and asteroid regolith (soil) simulants. The Exolith Lab’s testing and research activities enable space exploration, science, and education for researchers and students around the globe.

On its path to expansion, humanity has been increasing its presence in space over the last few decades. With a global focus on establishing a continued presence in space, we’re now facing the reality that space travel needs to become more accessible and sustainable. To do so, we need to utilize the resources that are already available in space to maintain our presence there. The Exolith® Lab is committed in its role to create opportunities for improved testing for these materials and resources,

OUR ONE-OF-A-KIND REGOLITH BIN

Bringing the Moon here to Earth, we house the world’s largest simulated Lunar Highlands surface. This is used for robots and humans to test the Lunar environment.
