Dr. Eastes leads FSI’s space environment research efforts and is the Principal Investigator for the GOLD Mission, a NASA Explorer Mission of Opportunity candidate in Phase A (see He is a physicist, specializing in the use of remote sensing data for Space Weather applications and Space Environment research. His primary expertise is in ultraviolet (UV) remote sensing, and he is one of the world’s foremost authorities on the use of far ultraviolet molecular emissions for remote sensing of the Earth’s thermosphere.
